What do we do?

Being independent artists ourselves, we at EdiveMusic know how intimidating it is to get started in this business. There's so much to think about, and a lot of it is over our heads. So we're hoping to take what we've learned and lower that barrier a little for you.

With EdiveMusic, we'll manage everything. You take care of creating the music, and we'll take care of everything else. Music distribution at the most popular MP3 sites at a minimum, as well as assistance in remastering, CD cover design, and CD distribution should you need it.

What does it cost?

Where most music labels and distribution companies take a hefty portion of your profit, EdiveMusic strives to be minimalistic. Besides, you're the one with the creative talent who has invested a lot of time and energy in making the music. Why should you get only 30% or 40% of the sale?

EdiveMusic has three tiers of service:

Tier 1 - MP3 Distribution Only - $49.95/yr

MP3 distribution to sites like iTunes, Amazon.com, iTunes Europe, and others.

Tier 2 - MP3 and CD Distribution - $79.95/yr

MP3 distribution to sites like iTunes, Amazon.com, iTunes Europe as well as CD distribution through CDBaby and Amazon.

Tier 3 - Join the EdiveMusic Family - $249.95/yr

We take care of our artists. Our production department will asist you in remastering your music for the best quality. They will also assist you in creating a CD cover to your liking. You'll get MP3 distribution to sites like iTunes, Amazon.com, iTunes Europe as well as CD distribution through CDBaby. And on top of that, you'll have an artist page on our site complete with bio, influential artists, playable song snippits and more.

Due to the personal connection and time involved in production, we have to set the cost accordingly. We hope you understand.

How much do I get?

We want to put food on our table and clothes on our bodies just like the next guy, but we don't want to steal from you to do it. We strive to be minimalistic. As such, we will take at most 10% of the profit for the sale of your music. How does this work? It depends on where the consumer purchased your music. Let's see a few examples

The consumer bought an MP3 from:

Store Retail price Store share Profit Edive share Your share
iTunes $0.99 $0.29 $0.70 $0.07 $0.63
Amazon* $0.89 $0.35 $0.54 $0.05 $0.49

Amazon.com's share is not consistent as their retail price varies depending on the price level they choose. In most cases, independent artists will sell in the $0.89 range, and whether or not Amazon.com is "promoting" your music, their share can increase or decrease. As such, you can choose not to distribute through Amazon.com, but our philosophy is the more choice for the consumer the better.

The consumer bought a 17 track album from:

Store Retail price Store share Profit Edive share Your share
iTunes $9.99 $2.99 $7.00 $0.70 $6.30

The price per album is dependent on the number of tracks in the album. If you have more than 10 tracks on your album, iTunes will sell it for a flat rate of $9.99. If you have 10 or less tracks, the price of the album is the sum of all tracks on the album. For example, if your album has 7 tracks, the cost of the album would be $6.93 (7 tracks x $0.99).

In general

In general, EdiveMusic will get a check from these various distributors for your music. And we take 10% of that. No hidden fees, no "special cases", no "but this month my baby is sick so we need a little more". 10%, done, finshed, finito.

We pride ourselves in our honesty and our no-nonsense approach to music distribution. We want you to succeed on your own merit. We don't want to punish you if sales are slow and we don't want to steal from you when you become successful. We hope you appreciate this approach.

How does it work?

We want to make this as painless as possible so there are 2 easy steps:

  1. You make the music and put it on CD or leave it in digital form (WAV/MP3 format).
  2. You submit the music to us (US Mail, digital upload, etc).

We take it from there.
